5th Purba Bardhaman District Karate Championship 2024 (Selection for KAB State Selection for KIO National) organised by Bardhaman Karate-Do Association (BKA) was held on 10th March, 2024 at Sri Aurobindo Stadium, Badamtala, Bardhaman.
This tournament is the authentic, official and recognised District Karate Championship in Purba Bardhaman and is approved by Karate-Do Association of Bengal (KAB).
Mr. Bonbihari Jash (General Secretary of Burdwan District Volleyball & Basketball Association) inaugurated the event.
106 karate athletes from four sub-divisions – Bardhaman Sadar Nouth, Bardhaman Sadar South, Kalna and Katwa competed in Kata, Kumite and Team Kata events divided into different age & weight categories. The competition was supervised by one continental (Asian Karate Federation) Judge and six national (Karate India Organisation) Judges.
General Secretary of BKA, Renshi Debasis Kumar Mondal said, “Under the guidance of Hanshi Premjit Sen (KAB President) and Hanshi Joydeb Mondal (KAB General Secretary) and with the support of BKA Members, the tournament is successfully completed.
To make this event more attractive, this year we released our new slogan – Let’s KIAI on Tatami. We felicitated the Last year’s official national, zonal and state medalists of Purba Bardhaman District. District’s Best Karate Athletes were also felicitated today. Membership Certificates were also distributed today.
I am very much thankful to Hanshi Premjit Sen and Hanshi Joydeb Mondal for their blessings and to all the guests, participants, officials, referees, judges, medical staffs, coaches, families and media friends for their support to make this event a grand success.”
Bardhaman Sadar North Sub-division topped the medal table while Katwa became second in the medal table. Notably, Chaitali Guin & Meghna Roy won three Gold medals in this fifth edition of PBDKC.
