Former India international and renowned footballer Ilyas Pasha passed away on Thursday, 22 January 2026, at his residence in Bengaluru at the age of 61.
Ilyas Pasha proudly represented India and played with distinction for prestigious clubs including East Bengal, Mohammedan Sporting, ITI FC, and Karnataka State. One of the finest moments of his career came in 1993 when he captained East Bengal to victory in the Wai Wai Cup held in Kathmandu, Nepal, under the guidance of coach Shyamal Ghosh.
His contribution to Indian football will always be remembered with respect and gratitude.
