The only authentic national federation for Karate in India, Karate India Organization (KIO), formed the various Zonal Committees, as per the information provided by its President, Mr. Vijay Tewari and General Secretary, Mr. Sanjeev Jangra. KIO is a member of World Karate Federation (AKF), Asian Karate Do Federation (AKF), South Asian Karate Do Federation (SAKF) and Commonwealth Karate Federation (CKF). Moreover, WKF is an affiliate member of International Olympic Committee (IOC).
These Zonal Tournaments will not only give an opportunity to the players to showcase their talents, but also help them leave their mark for their talent, which is abundant in our country. An exposure to these Zonal events will inspire players from the suburbs and the districts to come up in good numbers, and help them boost their confidence to compete in tough situations.
KIO has already announced to rewards and accolades for players and coaches for their contributions to Indian Karate every year (in January). Four players (2 male and 2 female) will be awarded with the title of “Excellent Indian Karate Player Award” along with a Cash Prize of Rs. 25000/- each, a Certificate, Shawl, Trophy and a Personal Accident insurance for one year of Rs. 5 Lakhs. Similarly, Two coaches (1 male and 1 female) will be awarded with the title of “Excellent Indian Karate Coach Award” along with a Cash Prize of Rs. 50000/- each, a Certificate, Shawl, Trophy and a Personal Accident insurance for one year of Rs. 5 Lakhs. This initiative from KIO will definitely boost the morale of all the players and coaches, who truly deserve for their hard work they put in to perform at the various levels for our country.
The task of the respective Zonal Committees will be to conduct their Zonal Tournaments which will be valid till the next year zonal event on rotation system. The Zonal event will be for Cadet, Junior, Under 21 and Senior categories only. Whereas, the Gold and Silver medalists of each category from their respective Zones, will be eligible to participate in the Inter Zonal Championship.

1. South Zone:

Vice Presidents – Nominees from Telangana, Kerala and Puducherry
2. East Zone:
Mr. Premjit Sen – President
Mr. Pankaj Kambli – General Secretary
Vice Presidents – Nominees from Orissa, Jharkhand and Andaman & Nicobar Island
3. West Zone:
Mr. Kalpesh Makwana – President
Mr. Joseph Rodrigues – General Secretary
Vice Presidents – Nominees from Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Dadar & Nagar Haveli and Maharashtra
4. North Zone:
Mr. Bharat Sharma -President
Mr. Jaiprakash Singh – General Secretary
Vice Presidents – Nominees from J&K, Leh, Laddakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Punjab
5. North East Zone:
Mr. Kirankumar – President
