3rd East India Karate Championship 2023 was organsied by the East India Karate Association (EIKA) in association with Karate Do Association of Bengal (KAB) at Amal Dutta Krirangan (Dum Dum, Kolkata) on 14th & 15th October 2023.

The first day saw the Sub-Junior (13 years and below) categories were conducted whereas, the Cadet, Junior, Under-21 years and Senior were held on the second day.

The President of EIKA, Hanshi Premjit Sen, organsied the event in a very organised way which was praised by one and all. He is also the Joint Secretary of Karate India Organisation (KIO) and an eminent Referee & Judge of World Karate Federation (WKF) and Asian Karate Do Federation (AKF). His contribution to the game in Bengal has brought Karate at par with games like Cricket and Football.

The occasion was graced by various dignitaries which included Sri Swapan Banerjee (President of Bengal Olympic Association), Mr. Anirban Chatterjee (WBCS, Exe.), Hanshi Joydeb Mondal (General Secretary of KAB & Vice President of EIKA), Sensei Pankaj Kambli (General Secretary of EIKA), Sensei K. K. Singh (Vice President of Jharkhand Olympic Association) and others.

Apart from West Bengal, players from Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha and Andaman & Nicobar Island participated with lots of enthusiasm and grit.

KAB has organsied this prestigious event for the first time. KAB is the only authentic Karate Association recognized by Karate India Organisation (KIO) and Bengal Olympic Association (BOA). Whereas, KIO is a permanent affiliated member of World Karate Federation (WKF), Asian Karate Do Federation (AKF), Commonwealth Karate Federation (CKF) and South Asian Karate Do Federation (SAKF).

The Results of the Tournament are as follows :-

CHAMPION – West Bengal with 75 Gold, 87 Silver and 103 Bronze medals

1ST RUNNER-UP – Bihar with 31 Gold, 14 Silver and 21 Bronze medals

2ND RUNNER-UP – Orissa with 22 Gold, 17 Silver and 28 Bronze Medals.

“I feel very happy and proud to host this event in a successful manner in Bengal. The Gold and Silver Medallist from each category qualify for the KIO All India Zonal Championship. Most importantly, I feel ecstatic to see Bengal becoming the Champion of this Tournament” said Hanshi Premjit Sen, the man behind this wonderful Tournament.
