Amidst lots of expectations and hope, with the largest ever contingent from India for the Games, the players did not disappoint anyone. Each and every Indian felt proud today, with the best ever performance at the Olympics for India with 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals. The total of 7 Medals bettered the last best performance by the Indians sportsperson at the London Olympics in 2012.

Mirabai Chanu – Silver in Women’s 49kg Weightlifting
Ravi Dahiya – Silver in Men’s Freestyle 57kg Wrestling
Lovlina Borgohain – Bronze in Women’s Welterweight boxing
PV Sindhu – Bronze in Women’s Singles Badminton
India Men’s Hockey team – Bronze
Bajrang Punia – Bronze in Men’s 65kg Freestyle Wrestling
Apart from being the most successful Olympics ever for India, it also saw some serious fightback by players in various games, which brought tears of happiness in one and all. Be it the fourth ranked perdormance of Aditi Ashok in Golf, Deepak Punia in the Men’s Freestyle 86kg in Wrestling or the Women’s Hockey team with the fourth-place finish, all returned with their head held high.
The athletes did their best, including the Sailing team, the Archery team, Swimming team, Bhawani Devi in Fencing, Pranati Nayak in Gymnastics, Sushila in Judo, Rowing team, Table Tennis team, Tennis team, Fouaad Mirza in Equestrian, the Boxing team, Badminton team and the Shooting team. Our athletes displayed great sportsmanship and spirited efforts at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The tireless efforts of the coaches and support staffs of the players, the National Sports Federations, Governemnt Of India and Sports Ministry and the staff for helping Team India etch in the history books, by being aside all the players.
