The Karate India Organisation (KIO) proudly announces a historical performance by the Indian Karate Players at the 21st AKF Asian Senior Karate Championship and the 4th AKF Asian ParaKarate Championship, 2025 held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 23rd to 25th May 2025.
The prestigious championships were organised by the Asian Karate Federation (AKF), which is recognised by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The AKF is a member of the World Karate Federation (WKF), which is recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Medal Highlights:
• Mr. Tarun Sharma – Gold Medal in Para-Karate Individual Kata (Category K-21)
• Ms. Alisha – Bronze Medal in Women’s Individual Kumite -55 kg
• Ms. Bhuvaneshwari Jadhav – Bronze Medal in Women’s Individual Kumite -68 kg
In a historical first for Indian Karate, Tarun Sharma secured the Gold Medal in Para-Karate, marking a groundbreaking achievement for India in this category at the Asian level. The Karate India Organisation congratulates all medal winners and extends sincere appreciation to their coaches and support staff for their relentless dedication and hard work.
Upon their return at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, the athletes were warmly welcomed by Shri Bharat Sharma, President of KIO, along with other officials. As a token of appreciation, Rs. 1,51,000/- (INR One lakh Fifty-One thousand only) was announced for each medal winner.
