Delhi Public School (DPS), Belgram–Burdwan, successfully organized its Intra-School Karate Competition 2026 on 31st January and 1st February 2026, transforming the campus into a vibrant arena of discipline, determination, and sporting excellence.
The championship was conducted with exemplary technical standards under the guidance and support of the Purba Bardhaman Seishinkai Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Association, ensuring professional execution and strict adherence to competitive norms.
The event was officiated by an esteemed panel of distinguished karate judges:
• Renshi Debasis Kumar Mondal – Judge, Asian Karate Federation
• Sensei Debnil Mondal – Judge, Karate India Organisation
• Sensei Sohan Mukherjee – Judge, All India Seishinkai Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Federation
Their presence reinforced the credibility, transparency, and high technical standards of the competition.
A total of 48 students from Classes I to X participated enthusiastically across 12 categories, competing in both Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring) events. The young karatekas demonstrated remarkable technique, focus, and discipline, reflecting months of dedicated training and preparation.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Mrs. Saheli Ghosh Basu emphasized the significance of martial arts in holistic education, stating:
“Our primary objective is to instill discipline, confidence, and a strong competitive spirit among our students. In today’s world, Karate is not just a sport but an essential life skill, especially for self-defense and character development.”
Mr. Rajesh Kumar Bhagat, Secretary-General of DPS Belgram–Burdwan, highlighted the steady growth of the championship, remarking:
“This marks the fourth consecutive year of organizing this prestigious championship in our school. Our students have consistently brought laurels to the institution by winning medals at District, State, Zonal, and National levels, including the School Games. We remain committed to nurturing sporting excellence.”
The championship concluded with a grand Prize Distribution Ceremony, where winners were awarded medals and certificates of merit. The electrifying atmosphere, amplified by enthusiastic support from parents, teachers, and fellow students, made the two-day event a memorable celebration of sportsmanship and youth empowerment.
The successful execution of the tournament once again reaffirmed DPS Belgram–Burdwan’s commitment to fostering discipline, resilience, and excellence through martial arts education.
