The 36th National Games being held in Gujarat is witnessing a strong performance in the Rugby 7s competition which started at TransStadia Football Ground in Ahmedabad from Wednesday. The women’s teams in particular are catching all eyes and people are taking special interest, as the Indian women’s rugby team last month finished second in the Asia Rugby 7s trophy by performing exceptionally well. The National champion Bihar in women’s teams is are going face tough teams of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Odisha at National Games.
While in men’s semi-finals Haryana will fight against Delhi and Maharashtra will face West Bengal. In the league match Haryana beat Punjab by 21-7 in a one-sided encounter, the other semi-finalists Maharashtra faced a tough fight with Haryana in the morning while lost with 17-14. In match with Maharashtra during the first half, Prince and Mohit scored a total of 10 each 5 while Deepak scored 2 at the other side giving tough time to Haryana, Mahrashtra’s Bharat scored 7 and Shridhar 2. In second half Haryana’s Prince scored 5 and Maharashtra’s shridhar 5 and Pablu 2. Whereas in Second Match with Punjab Haryana was leading with 21 Scores in First half at the other side Punjab did not succeed to score a single one. From Haryana Deepak Scored 5 points by attempt and 2 by conversion, Ajay scored 5 by an attempt deepak suceeded by getting another 2 by conversion, Tilak raj scored 5 points with attempt and Deepak converted it with another 2. In second half Haryana could not sucedded in any attempt whereas Punjab’s Gurvinder attempted and Pardeep Converted it in Goal. Rugby is such a game that any team can do charisma on the field at any time.
By the way, special attention will be given to the teams of Haryana in men and Bihar among women who are both the current national champions. Haryana’s team coach Sarvinder and captain Deepak Punia says that this time we have entered the field with the best preparation beforehand, there are experienced players like Tilak, Vikas Khatri in the team. Team physio doctor Anju Yadav says that they are constantly keeping an eye on the players and every player is completely fit, if this form remains intact then we can show a one-sided match in the final.
