Age fraud is not new to Indian football. In 2012, approx 72% of the fresh players selected by AIFF for the U-17 World Cup team were found to be overage.

To counter this problem, Now AIFF has created an app named ‘AIFF Golden Baby League’ to prevent age fraud in Indian football. Anyone who wants to get his/her kid to join in any academy under or affiliated to the AIFF, or in the academies of different I-League teams, will be mandatory for them to get the player registered at the age of 6 through the app. This will help AIFF develop a database of all young and upcoming players, which will be maintained, whether they remain in the system or choose not to pursue a career in football.
