Karate Canada is thrilled to announce the sport of karate has been selected for inclusion in the program of the 2027 Canada Winter Games (set to take place in Yukon). Karate will therefore be included in the program of two consecutive Canada Winter Games, after its exciting debut in PEI in 2023.
“Karate Canada is pleased to announce its inclusion into the 2027 Canada Games” says Karate Canada’s President, Mr. Craig Vokey. “The inclusion of Karate again shows the importance of continuing to strengthen our systems and our processes in coaching, officiating and competition. This is a great achievement for Karate Canada that will continue to benefit our youth competitors and will build on the legacy of what the 2023 Canada Winter Games will bring us in the future.”
This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our numerous volunteers and staff, and to the sustained efforts of our member Provincial and Territorial Associations towards the development of our sport nationwide. Our athletes, coaches, referees and entire karate community are ready and excited to show to the whole country what our sport has to offer!
Since 1967, the Canada Games have developed our next generation of national, international and Olympic champions. The Games are Canada’s largest multi-sport event and are held every two years. They represent the pinnacle of interprovincial/territorial sport competition.
