Medals galore at the Thailand Open Karate Championship by the Indian Karate Team

Team Kumite Bronze Medal

The Indian Karate Team, under the banner of Karate India Organisation (KIO), put up a historic show at the Thailand Open Karate Championship which was held from 19th to 23rd August 2022 at Phuket, Thailand.

KIO, which is the only authentic Karate organisation in India, is a permanent affiliated member of the World Karate Federation (WKF) and Asian Karate Do Federation (AKF). KIO is only Karate organisation in India responsible for sending Karate players to various international events under the WKF, as per the decision of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), issued in the letter dated 21.07.2022.

700 players from 25 countries participated in this huge event. Amidst tough competition, the Indians won 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 9 Bronze Medals

  • Mr. Ribu Riyang : Gold & Bronze Medal
  • Mr. Hemphu Bongjang : Gold and Bronze Medal
  • Junior Team Kata Girls : Silver Medal
  • Mr. Bedant Das : Silver Medal
  • Mr. Adil : Silver Medal
  • Mr. Pranay Sharma : Bronze medal
  • Mr. Sharath Jango : Bronze medal
  • Ms. Ankitha : Bronze Medal
  • Ms. Unnati Jindal : Bronze Medal
  • Mr. Mrityunjay Vijayta : Bronze Medal
  • Ms. Shambhavi Singh : Bronze Medal
  • Ms. Lipin Ete : Bronze Medal
  • Team Kumite Bronze medal

This unique feat was only possible due to the dynamic leadership and whole-hearted efforts of Hanshi Bharat Sharma, Mentor of Indian Karate and Member of the Technical Committee of World Karate Federation (WKF). The dream of lots of Indian players got fulfilled due to him and his passion towards this game.
