Indian & South African karatekas put on a commendable show at the 10th Commonwealth Karate Championship 2022, which was held in Birmingham (UK).
India and South Africa finished 5th and 4th respectively and stayed at the Top 5 position to finish the Championship at their best performances ever amidst 22 countries.
The efforts of the Indian players shown in this Championship was amazing where they did not leave a single stone unturned. Moreover, the tireless efforts, hardwork, sweat and determination shown by the Coaches are also to be lauded.
Hanshi Sonny Pillay (South Africa), a seasoned and globally respected Karate leader was appointed as the President of the Commonwealth Karate Federation for the second time.
Both Mr. Billy Brennan and Mr. Craig Vokey were elected unopposed during the Elections for their posts of Vice President and Secretary General respectively, for the second term.
Meanwhile, Hanshi Bharat Sharma (India) was elected as the 2nd Vice President of the Commonwealth Karate Federation. His efforts to make India shine and prosper at the global events have been simply outstanding. The exposure that he is giving to the Indian karatekas in the recent past has been appreciated by one and all, and thus, a result oriented performances from the Indian players are seen at the global stage.
Bangladesh has been given the honour to host the 11th Commonwealth Karate Championship next year as the First Secretary of Bangladesh High Commission, Mr. Sakib, overwhelmingly accepted the honours.
