KARATEKAS OF BENGAL PUT ON A STELLAR PERFORMANCE AT THE KIO ALL INDIA KARATE DO CHAMPIONSHIP AT DEHRADOON

Players of Karate Do Association of Bengal (KAB) put up a commendable performance at the KIO All India Karate Do Championship 2024 at Dehradoon (Uttarakhand) from 8th to 12th May 2024.

Bengal Team

Overall, TEAM BENGAL won 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals. The following are the names of the proud winners who represented Bengal at the official event :-

GOLD MEDAL

– Rupkatha Dutta : U-21 Female Kata

– Debayush Mitra, Shantanu Rajbanshi & Aritra Mitra : Junior Male Team Kata

SILVER MEDAL

– Shivam Poddar : U-21 Male Kumite -55kg

– Lopamudra Adhikary : U-21 Female Kumite -61kg

– Raja Rabidas : Junior Male Kumite -50kg

– Bipasha Paul : Cadet Female Kata

– Piuli Maity : Cadet Female Kumite +61kg

BRONZE MEDAL

– Rizong Tamang, Bikram Prajapati & Ayushman Roy : Senior Male Team Kata

– Debanjali Karmakar, Ankaona Das & Sohini Chatterjee : Senior Female Team Kata

– Smritikana Sikari : Senior Female Kumite -50kg

– Saswata Patra : U-21 Male Kumite +84kg

Before the event all the players, coaches and officials representing KAB were given the following by KAB:-

– A Medical Insurance of Rs. 200000/- each for all the players representing Bengal.

– A Sponsorship of Rs. 3000/- each for all the players and 5 (five) officials.

– A Sponsorship of Rs. 5000/- each to all the 4 (four) coaches.

– The Participation Fees of all the players.

– T-Shirts & Tracksuits for the players and coaches respectively.

Moreover, it is for the first time that all the players were given a Medical Insurance of Rs. 200000/- each. I am ecstatic with the results and performance shown by the Bengal players at the Championship amongst tough competition.” – Hanshi Premjit Sen (President of KAB).

Hanshi Premjit Sen is the first Bengali to become the Referee & Judge of World Karate Federation (WKF) & Asian Karate Do Federation (AKF) both. He had also achieved the most prestigious “Bronze Pin” awarded by the WKF for his contributions in the field of Karate DO as a Referee.
