India’s young prodigy Anupama Swain has won a bronze medal in the World Martial Arts Membership Jiu-Jitsu.
Jiu-Jitsu is a form of martial art and combat sport and it puts the entire focus on grappling with particular emphasis on ground fighting. Speaking about the experience, she said, “I was the only player to get selected for the championship in Korea. All the players who were present there were already medallists, they were top players and the competition was really tough. It was the first time that I went to participate alone in the tournament.” Anupama’s bronze win has also translated into a direct spot for her at the 2022 Asian Games.
She is also a national medallist in karate and champion in powerlifting. She is an eminent karate player, under the guidance of a great sportsman with great technical abilities and coaching skills Shihan Hariprasad Pattnayek. He instructs her to be a very profound martial artist and helping her develop and reach her goal
